Here is a list of what ingredients I use in my butters!
Since I make a body butter; the purpose is to moisten the body preventing dry and itchy skin, but the ingredients are so wonderful I thought I would let you know some other things they are known or used for.
Cocoa Butter: Found in my "cocoa" labeled scents only. Cocoa butter is obtained from whole cacao beans, which are fermented, roasted, and then separated from their hulls. Cocoa butter has amazing moisturizing qualities, is full of antioxidants and has a shelf life of 2-5 years. It is often used by pregnant women to reduce stretch marks. It's also great for dry skin, burned skin, chapped lips and treating mouth sores.
Shea Butter: Shea butter is widely used in cosmetics and moisturizers. It is probably the most popular found on the shelves in stores and most people have heard of it or tried it before. It is extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. It's an incredible process and so much is still done by hand in groups of women in Africa. Our shea butter comes from a group of ladies that are paid more than fair trade wages. It absorbs quickly into the skin providing moisture and healing. It can also be used for dry and brittle hair. It has medicinal qualities and is rubbed into joints to help ease pain or for the management of sinusitis or nasal congestion. Shea butter has also been used as a sun blocking lotion as it has a limited capacity to absorb ultraviolet radiation.
Mango Butter: An amazing antioxidant and moisturizer. It is used as a base in several different kinds of natural lotions because when melted down and reformed, it does not have a smell. Perfect for those allergic or sensitive to fragrances.
Coconut Oil: I call this the wonder oil. It has so, so many health benefits. We use it in almost everything! It is extremely healing for dry skin and reduces protein loss when used in hair.
Vitamin E Oil: This is called a healing oil. It is great for dry skin as all of my ingredients are! It is also great for stretch marks, scar reduction, cracked hands and feet, and thrush when breast feeding.
Essential Oils: Different essential oils are good for different things. Lavender is calming, peppermint is awakening, Spearmint is good for stuffy noses or congestion. Grapefruit is good for joint pain. Some, like grapefruit are not to be used while pregnant. If you have any questions about the oils prior to purchasing, please do not hesitate to email me!
